Manufacturing Process

The manufacturing process and raw materials are critical product properties. Due to the very favorable technical properties, a 3-layer, blow-molded, co-extruded wrap should be used where possible.

The high stretchability of CLAAS silage stretch film both crosswise and lengthwise is a result of the formulation and production method.

High Tear and Puncture Resistance

The high elasticity in longitudinal and transverse direction is one clear benefit of the CLAAS SILAGE  STRETCHFILM. Even with pre-stretching of up to 70%, CLAAS wrapping film offers extremely high puncture and tear resistance.

Adhesive Properties and UV Protection

The multilayer structure of the stretch film allows different dyes and adhesives to be used, as well as a specific guard against UV. The adhesive in infused into the raw material. The wrap only develops its full adhesive strength in the pre-stretching stage, with the adhesive remaining in the wrap. This ensures that the valuable crop is not mixed with the adhesive. The UV guard is present in all layers, thus providing effective protection against harmful UV radiation.

Design

The middle layer makes up approximately 65% of the total strength of a 25μ wrap. All layers in a quality wrap contain additives for UV protection. The appropriate dye is added to the middle layer. The adhesive (PIB) is added to the raw material in liquid form before it is fused, and is found in the 2nd and 3rd layer. Since PIB migrates, excellent adhesive strength is retained for many years.
