Mechatronics Apprentices “Matriculate”
We are proud to announce that Todd Meyer and Kirk Skaggs have successfully graduated from the ICATT Mechatronics Program. They are the first CLAAS Omaha (COL) graduates from this very unique program that combines tech school classes and on-the-job training.
The Industry Consortium for Advanced Technical Training (ICATT) is the leading apprenticeship program for manufacturers and companies with complex administration processes. It is the largest program fully benchmarked on the German Dual Education System – an approach recognized globally for its combination of company-specific knowledge, theory, and hands-on learning – resulting in highly-trained and flexible employees.
The apprentices gained hands-on and theoretical experience in topics such as metal-working, fluid systems, and electrical control. They also took classes at Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, Nebraska to help further their education. Following the completion of the program, the Mechatronics Apprentices received a DIHK Certification, U.S. Department of Labor Certification, and Associate’s Degree from Metropolitan Community College.
In recognition of their accomplishments and extensive knowledge, Todd and Kirk both accepted new positions within the company effective June 26, 2023 following the completion of their program.
Todd has accepted the position of Repairs & Reconfiguration Technician for CLAAS Omaha (COL). He originally joined CLAAS Omaha in August 2018 as an Assembly Technician and joined the Mechatronics program in 2020.
Kirk has accepted the position of Repairs & Reconfiguration Technician Lead and Apprenticeship Trainer. As part of this dual role, Kirk will help lead and train the new class of Apprentices.
Always looking forward, CLAAS is excited to welcome the next cohort of ICATT Apprentices who will be starting this month.
