83 in working width – for total work performance.

The ROLLANT 540 has a pick-up working width of 83 inches (2.1 m) with 140 rpm for optimum crop flow. This means the pick-up can handle even the widest windrows with no crop soiling problems. The short crop plate guides the crop safely to the rotor, even in small and uneven windrows. The spring steel tines are flexible, which means they can be used even in tough conditions. The spring steel tines in the pick-up are closely spaced, ensuring that the field is raked clean. Another feature is the pick-up's forward location on the baler, giving the driver maximum visibility from the tractor seat. This makes it easier to adapt the speed to the swath windrow and monitor the crop flow to prevent blockages from occurring.

    The cam controlled pick-up adjusts to any ground contours, even at high working speeds and while negotiating curves. Large castor guide wheels, with tool-free adjustment, keep you safely on track at all times.

  • Single- or double-roller crop press – for higher performance.

    What are the benefits from a forward-mounted roller crop press? In short, it presses the crop down, speeds up the flow of crop material and transfers it actively to the rotor. It also ensures uniform filling of the bale chamber, and, as a result, perfectly formed round bales. Having the pick-up close to the rotor ensures optimum crop transfer. This combination of conveyor auger and roller crop press makes the task easier, particularly in irregular silage windrows.

  • Generously dimensioned lateral stub augers, for tightly packed bale edges.

    In preparation for baling, generously dimensioned side augers trim the crop down to the bale chamber width. This results in very firm bale edge zones, for excellent bale stability. The benefits: the bales can cope with rough handling, transport and storage, without immediately losing their shape.

New arrangement of rotor tines.

If you don't need to chop the crop, and want large bale weights and high performance, the ROTO FEED ensures a smooth crop flow from the pick-up into the baling chamber.

Maximum throughput and even crop flow, with ROTO FEED.

Standard with the ROTO FEED system – the feed rotor tines are arranged in spirals, guaranteeing uniform intake and high-power fast throughput. The system is ideal for sensitive forage types, such as alfalfa. The helical arrangement protects the tines and delivers first-class forage quality, naturally with the optimum bale shape.


ROTO CUT Heavy Duty. But ultimately, it's all about cutting power and performance.

  • Quality milk requires a quality forage crop.

    Energy-rich, appetizing silage with optimum lactic acid fermentation is the basic requirement for high milk yields in the shed. That means three things: short-chopped forage, high bale pressure and the exclusion of oxygen. For the chopping requirement, the ROLLANT has a solidly built heavy-duty high-performance chopping rotor made from double-hardened boron steel, with helically arranged double tines. The individual knife protection device provides effective protection, ensuring consistent cutting quality and boosting knife service life. Optional tungsten carbide coated knives are available on request.

    Fast, precise and effective – that best describes the operation of the 15-knife cutting rotor, with four-star 8 mm thick tines, arranged in pairs. The recipe for outstanding forage quality. The crop is accurately cut into short portions, for better compacting and easier unpacking. ROTO CUT allows cut lengths of as low as 2.75 in (70 mm), still with outstanding quality. High rpm speed allows more than 8,400 cuts/min.

  • Intersecting set between quality and reliability.

    The 15 knife cutting rotor is designed for maximum reliability and throughput. In the COMFORT variant, the required number of knives (0, 7, 8, 15) can be set from the driver's seat. The knife teeth of double-hardened steel are highly efficient, and have a long service life. Four-star double tines draw the crop through the knife support, with more than 8,400 cuts/min for top chopping quality. As in the 400 series, the CLAAS scraper system keeps the space between and inside the double tines clear, for maximum operating reliability – in all harvesting conditions.

    The entire cutterbar can be pivoted hydraulically from the tractor cab, while the bale chamber can be opened for easy fitting and removal of the knives from above.

Hydraulically lowered floor: The ROLLANT PRO.

Baling is hard work, and speed is of the essence. That means high daily throughput rates, and intelligent systems to help the driver get the job done. These include a floor-lowering function, for active adaptation to the crop flow. Automatic lowering by up to 30 mm allows the continuous intake even of irregular windrows, with no impact on cutting quality.


Early warning system helps avoid blockages.

The movement of the floor is indicated on the control terminal as visual and acoustic signals via a sensor. This means you can register the threat of blockages in time, and react accordingly – from the comfort of the cab. You can use the baler to its full capacity while avoiding downtime due to blockages.


Any blockages that do occur can be easily and quickly cleared using the operator terminal, without having to leave the cab. The drop floor opens up, and the rotor sweeps the blockage material straight into the bale chamber. In machines with a chopping rotor, the knife pressure is shut off with a pushbutton control before the opening movement of the drop floor. When it closes again, the knives swing back in automatically.
