Mechanical vs. Variable Speed: What’s the Difference?

For maximum throughput in extreme conditions, the dual variable speed header drive is the ideal solution for pick up work and provides premium in-cab conveniences. The system automatically speeds up or slows down the pickup tines independently with varying ground speeds, as well as manipulate the auger speed for the feed rolls to enable constant, high performance and smoother feeding. This drive is ideal for those who have varying LOC, yield, ground speeds, and windrow sizes.

A mechanical header drive is a mechanically driven header that has a constant pickup reel speed and the auger speed can either be adjusted via different sprockets or the optional 3-speed gearbox. This drive is the perfect companion for those with consistent LOC, ground speeds and windrow sizes.

Reinforced drive.

A newly revised and reinforced drive train provides overload protection of the intake auger for higher operating reliability and three speed adjustment types:

  • Standard mechanical
  • Optional 3-speed mechanical
  • Optional variable speed adjustment

Ground contour following.

Using an angle sensor on the PICK UP head, ACTIVE CONTOUR senses ground irregularities in advance, enabling fast operation over hilly terrain while keeping the rake at the proper distance from the ground.

Optimal accessibility.

The roller crop press is automatically raised hydraulically, making it convenient to search for the presence of metal or rocks. This arrangement also allows wear parts to be replaced easily.
